| The success of Universal Soldier With Guard Dog Fax as a sculpture in the lush setting of Sculpture Key West is ongoing. Much has been made of Tom's imaginative approach to sculpture expression, as well it should. The sculpture will be shown at Charest-Weinberg Gallery on Duval St in Key West through May 8, 2006. | Universal Soldier with Guard Dog, Fax is a mixed media sculpture standing 80” tall. This playful piece is uniquely situated at Historic Fort Zachary Taylor serving an important mission: protecting our freedoms and particularly our freedom of speech and artistic expression. The exhibition opens January 15 and continues through March 16, 2006. |

Press Release: Northport artist Thomas Bowker has recently had his artwork, Universal Soldier with Guard Dog, Fax, juried into Sculpture Key West : by land, sea and air, an annual international juried exhibition of contemporary outdoor sculpture set in Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, Key West, Florida. This nationally recognized exhibition showcases international and world class patrons and over 100,000 visitors to the park. The 87 acre park is home to a civil war era fort surrounded by a moat and includes the island's best beaches, and open field and wooded areas.
Every winter the Park becomes home to an exhibition of large scale sculptures, many of them created specifically for the site by leading sculptors from around the world. What is unique about Sculpture Key West is that its outdoor venue can be seen by land, sea and air. Many artists take advantage of this unique venue to showcase work that be viewed from a variety of vantage points. The Park is situated on the southernmost tip of Key West where the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico meet, offering a variety of settings for contemporary sculpture. |
